Santa Fe Avenue carried the very first Route 66 alignment through Grants when the highway was designated in 1926.

 

This early corridor followed the town’s original street grid, passing small stores, garages, and homes long before the mid‑century boom. The 1926 alignment shows what Grants looked like in its earliest highway era—before neon, before motels, and before the interstate reshaped the town.
